YES Ma, I want to be just like you .❤πŸ₯°πŸ˜‡

Disclaimer: I am participating in Blogging from A-Z challenge 2022 and this is my post for Y # Yes Mom, I want to be just like you πŸ˜‡πŸ€©πŸ˜πŸ₯°

had always been told by my Mom, that I was born sucking my thumbπŸ‘Ά. That my thumb had to be pulled out to make me cry 😫.( Forever wanted to be in my comfort zone πŸ˜‡)

I continued with my habit for many years . My mom tried everything- putting chilly- pepper 🌢 mix or neem paste on my thumb , bandaging or even cellotaping it . Nothing worked . Although I controlled the urge in school,  but at home I blissfully continued. Once when I was in my 2nd grade , my mom became upset 😑 over my irritating quirk. Just to pacify her , I said I was sorry and wouldn't do it anymore.  She made me swear on her. In jest I said yes I promise you Ma. To which she added you have sworn on me, if you break it, I shall die.

I was worried 😟 😨 now . I tied my thumb to the rest of my palm, to remember . At night πŸŒ‰ πŸŒ™ ,while sleeping unconsciously my thumb went into my mouth . Suddenly I woke up with a start and started crying uncontrollably . My sister tried to console me,  but I wouldn't stop . She went and called Mummy.

My mom smiled , took me in her lap and said , God is merciful, once he shall excuse you but not again . That was the end of my addiction forever.

I never understood how could she be just the perfect combination of tact, toughness, dignity and discipline.

At the same time a little lenient and soft too .

On one hand she never left a stone unturned to make us hardworking and disciplined .

Any normal day had to begin at 5 o clock ⏰ in the morning followed by two hours of rigorous studying and then getting ready for school .

We were four of us and our duties were divided . Mine was to polish everyone's shoes πŸ‘ž πŸ‘Ÿ and my sister used to iron our uniforms. Both of us did them, a night before . The rest of the two had to clean up any mess around (books , stationary lying around ). After school, it was homework, playing on the terrace,  having dinner and settling  our bags . Finally to bed by 8 o clock ⏰ 😴 tugged in by Mummy with a nice bed time story .

My Mom was not very educated , considering the domestic responsibilities she had to shoulder right from her childhood. 😐 So she made it her aim in life to make us qualified and learned πŸ‘©‍πŸŽ“πŸ‘©‍πŸŽ“πŸ‘©‍πŸŽ“πŸ‘©‍πŸŽ“. She didn't like us complaining and whining. If it has to be done,  it should be done.  No shortcuts,  no escapes.

As a child whatever effort I used to put in for my studies was just to impress her. It felt great when after the Parent-Teacher's meeting in school, she came back beaming with pride and happiness 😊 πŸ™‚ ☺ .

When I look back I realize at times when she was really tough on us . Like falling sick was not an excuse to rest .

It only meant eat healthy and keep working.

You will get well faster than you think πŸ˜‡

All four of us still follow that rule .

When looking at the many bygone years of my growing up , we were never yelled at or beaten up but whatever Mom said was engraved in stone for us. If anyone of us was ever reprimanded,  the rest three were at their most prudent behavior for the entire month. At times if any of us was really getting a bad scolding,  Papa (like all doting fathers ) tried to intervene and cover up . Finally the couple ended up fighting, while the lucky one got a narrow escape. 😁😁

My Mom could be strict with us but anyone else being unduly harsh was not acceptable πŸ˜•.

Once I had forgotten a notebook at home . I was in my third grade then.  My teacher had to punish me severely,  pressed a pencil between my fingers . It caused a swelling light bruise.

The very next day my Mom was standing in the Principal's office to complain about the said teacher.

She was independent and fearless in her thinking and approach . Although she couldn't speak or understand English, still she single-handedly managed to get my sister admitted to our school (which was a convent, when the admissions had also closed and there was no vacancy). This  remained a much talked about feat in our neighborhood for years.

We could never understand how easily she managed to delegate responsibilities on us during our holidays, trying to make us as hardworking as herself .

Anji used to be in-charge of the kitchen work , as for myself being occupied with cleaning,  Mikki had her hands full with dishes, (the look she used to give Anji when she added to her work while cooking 🍳 πŸ˜€), and Muna had to dust the whole house .

We never revolted because of two reasons I guess

# We felt it would be useless

# And most importantly we all wanted to make Mummy happy 😊 πŸ˜ƒ πŸ˜€

We were never allowed to throw tantrums during meal times.

Whatever was cooked and served was to be eaten happily 😊 without complaining.

And it never occurred to us that we could whine or anything as

everything was just sooo TASTY πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

I STILL MISS THE FLAVORS OF MY MOM'S FOOD SO MUCH

I don't know which rule book she followed or what guidelines made her what she was as a parent and a person πŸ€”.

She had raised four individuals each with different characteristic traits, happily 😊 delightfully 😊 πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡and here we are, as parents of a single child or maximum two children still feeling that it's so difficult to be a mother.πŸ‘¨‍🍼

MOM, HOW I WANT TO BE A MOTHER LIKE YOU πŸ«‚.
